这里是京城最早的汽车用品集散地，很多北京的汽车用品商户的销售渠道都是从这里铺向北京乃至北方的市场，同时也是大家公认的北方最有活力的汽车用品批发集散地之一。但是，由于地处西三环核心位置，土地可以说是寸土寸金，所以最近几年的搬迁之说一浪高过一浪，但直到现在还依然存在，生意还很不错。
受搬迁风波的部分影响，六里桥市场东部和南部已经有部分建筑已经拆除。但是大部分用品商家依然监守这块最为宝贵的阵地。北京的大批发商有的搬走但是因为这里生意太好，所以有的商户已经将办公地点从别的地方迁回。另外，新开辟的两家新的汽车用品市场，商户已基本满员。现在这个市场又恢复了往日的活跃气氛。据知情人士透露，拆迁估计是早晚的事情了。
