该市场坐落于珠江河畔，广州市繁华的商业区——西堤二马路，南临南方百货大厦，东靠人民南路,西接六二三路，北邻广州文化公园。场内总面积6000平方米，共设有500个摊位，商场经营的商品品种达30000多种，商品辐射到省内城乡及全国各地，并远销到东南亚、俄罗斯、越南、巴基斯坦及港、澳地区，商品以批发为主，15年来总计成交金额50亿元，仅1997年头10个月，市场成交金额逾8亿元，有国家缴纳税收达300多万元。
广州市日用工业品交易市场自开业至今，对市场实行依法管理，加强业户的社会主义精神文明建设，全面提高经营者整体素质和服务素质。市场连续8年被评为广东省、广州市文明市场，1995年被评为国家文明市场，1996年又被广州市委、广州市政府评为广州地区“创三优”建文明城活动百家最佳服务单位，1997年又被授予“羊城巾帼”文明服务标兵岗暨广州市“三八”红旗集体荣誉称号。 -
